The malting industry gives rise to various waste streams and co-products and aims to dispose of as little to landfill as is technically achievable. The majority of deliveries of malt are in bulk containers, maximising efficiency and minimising container waste. Smaller brewers require smaller sacks and these have traditionally been difficult to recycle locally, given their composition of polypropylene.
