The MAGB are an industry stakeholder for the BARIToNE programme which is supporting 42 PhD projects over a 7 year period, based at the James Hutton Institute in Dundee. The aim of the programme is to reduce environmental impacts across all sectors of the barley supply and value chain.
It is working on three themes:
- reducing inputs
- increasing resilience to climate change
- lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
