Last week saw a very successful event, held at Greene King Brewery, Bury St Edmunds.
There were 27 attendees 21 from member malting companies, 3 from Greene King Brewery, 2 from Teagasc Southern Ireland, and 1 from the MAGB Secretariat.
Delegates came from a range of backgrounds including intake, laboratory, production, quality, and trade departments. Some delegates were preparing to take malting exams, though a significant number were new to malting, with others simply wanting a refresher.
Talks covered a range of topics from barley procurement through to malt quality.
The Symposium was concluded with a tour of Soufflet Bairds Malt, Witham Malting plant including the roasting facilities, plus a talk about special malt production.
